SAH Historic Interiors Group Online Event: AI Narratives of the Interior
Friday, April 11, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Eastern (GMT/UTC -4 hrs)
This event will present ongoing research into AI-driven interior narratives, examining the intersection between cinema, staged spaces, and generative AI tools. Building upon the work of Dr. Angelica Ponzio titled Modern and Contemporary Narratives of the Interior: Crossings and Interpolations, the event will explore how AI-generated imagery, animations, and speculative storytelling enrich critical engagement within interior studies.
The session begins with an overview of the research’s theoretical and methodological approach, emphasizing cinematic interpretations of interiors using AI-assisted methodologies.
To illustrate, selected students from Dr. Ponzio’s postgraduate seminar will present their work. Their projects utilize AI technologies such as diffusion models, large language models (LLMs), and multimodal tools, demonstrating innovative workflows (text-to-image, image-to-film, speculative narrative) that foster new insights and experimental spatial hypotheses.
