Register now to explore a pair of projects by Floor Associates alongside The Cultural Landscape Foundation.
Start at the Echo Canyon Residence. Before Floor Associates were engaged, the existing mid-1970’s home did not capitalize on its location and striking landscape. Large Ficus trees obscured views of Camelback Mountain and the backyard was comprised of a series of disjointed seating and lawn areas, where large water intensive shrubs further obscured views. Peeling back these layers revealed an opportunity to reinvent these spaces to capture dramatic views, create a transitional and nuanced entry experience, and provide a variety of exterior courtyards for active entertaining or quiet reflection.
Next the group will travel to Nita Residence. Designed to blur the lines between the indoor and outdoor spaces, this private residence celebrates the Sonoran Desert and all its flora. A series of distinctive courtyards pull visitors from the glass interior to an exterior composition where color, texture, and pattern enhance the immersive desert landscape.
The two tours, led by Kris Floor, FASLA and Chris Brown FASLA (Floor Associates), will conclude with further discussion over light refreshments.
2.0 LA CES™ professional development hours will be available to attendees.
