Call for Proposals: “Projects in Process" Poster Session

Poster Session
Projects in Process

Submission Deadline: March 1, 2019

Convener: Jeffrey Cohen, Bryn Mawr College

SAH is finding new ways for you to participate in our Annual International Conference, beginning this April in Providence. A Projects in Process poster session is just one of what we hope will be several new possibilities.

We invite proposals that center on research resources that will be useful to others in our various overlapping communities of interest, rather than more traditional presentations of scholarly analysis that we know from paper sessions. We especially envision projects that make visual or textual resources accessible to others, and that will spark scholarly exchange, elicit peer input, and engage colleagues as users or possibly even collaborators. We want our membership to learn about projects and undertakings currently in development that would benefit from the high visibility that is unique to the SAH conference.

Although many eligible projects will be digital in nature, they will, at least for this year, be represented by a person explaining their project in front of a print poster. (Future iterations may allow flat-screen monitors, projection, or live demonstration.)

The Poster Sessions will be placed in the Exhibit Hall, Ballroom D, and available for viewing during the open exhibit hall hours on Thursday and Friday. The discussions will happen during non-paper session times. We will also post the projects to the SAH website so that they can remain visible and the discussion can continue well after the conference, to the benefit of all.

To propose a Project in Process poster session, submit a description (250 words) identifying its creators and organizational sponsors, website links if any, and who will be attending the conference who will serve as a presenter to Christopher Kirbabas at ckirbabas@sah.org by March 1, 2019. Please mark the subject line of the email “SAH Poster Session Proposal.” A committee appointed by the president of SAH will review the proposals and will notify the selected presenters by the end of March. At that time we’ll communicate about the size for the posters and ask for a digital version for the SAH website.

We also invite those interested to help us shape any further iterations of the poster session.
