The Society of Architectural Historians has been awarded a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the Tawani Foundation to support activities related to the Society’s 75th anniversary. COL (IL) Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Ret), president and founder of the Tawani Foundation, is among the members of the SAH 75th Anniversary Honorary Committee.
SAH Executive Director Pauline Saliga said, “We are grateful to Col. Pritzker and Tawani Foundation for making this important gift in honor of the Society’s 75th anniversary. The gift will enable SAH to implement a number of 75th anniversary activities throughout the year, including a series of three lectures in conjunction with the Chicago Architecture Biennial, sponsoring a talk at the Chicago Humanities Festival by architecture critic, educator and writer Paul Goldberger, as well as plan a commemorative lecture at Harvard University, the place where SAH was founded in 1940.”
The Society kicked off its 75th anniversary with a celebration at The Rookery during its 68th Annual International Conference in Chicago. SAH anniversary activities will conclude with its annual awards gala fundraiser that will take place Friday, November 6, at the Woman’s Athletic Club of Chicago.
